Some recent shots at the heron reserve

Our visiting Black Phoebe from the south. I'm guessing it's a female as it was seen carrying nesting material.

Female Red-winged Blackbird taking food to her young.
I have found that the Swainson's Thrush is a difficult bird to photograph. I called this bird from the undergrowth to get the shot.
Both male and female kingfishers were out hunting together. This is the female.
While walking the dyke road I flushed this coyote before he disappeared into a corn field.

Eagles collecting grasses from the edge of the trail to line their nest

The ospreys along the slough lost their nest in a wind storm last winter and had difficulty rebuilding this year

The Bullock's Orioles have returned but I've been unable to locate their nest this year. This photo is an old nest located above the Rotary Trail.

At the GBHE Reserve Today

The wood ducks were high up in the cottonwoods searching for nesting cavities at 60 feet.

GBHE Reserve

I was out for a visit to the reserve today. After walking the Tower trail and Rotary trail down to and along the dyke road I was back in the parking lot and came across this cooperative hairy woodpecker just waiting to be photographed. He gave me the opportunity to shoot several frames with the Powershot SX60 and even more shots with the 80D.
Can you tell which is which?
