Great Blue Heron Reserve and Vedder Park

 Nice birding walk around the reserve on a cool Monday with few photo opportunities. 

During the summer I watched Bullock`s Orioles flying back and forth to a location in a Cottonwood in Vedder Park but could not see the nest at the time because of all the leaves. I found the nest recently along with a Red-tailed Hawk feeding close by. I used the slow approach technique for bird photographer`s, with my big lens, slowly moving closer without disturbing the bird.

Huge flocks of Cackling Geese use the park every year as a resting site in winter along with a few Snow Geese
