Great Blue Heron Reserve

These shots were taken a week ago when the birds were seen collecting nesting material to reinforce their nests prior to incubation. I think some of them had already laid. If you haven't been it's well worth a visit located on the Vedder river in Chilliwack. Walk the dyke road to view the nests as the access trail in the reserve is closed off for the breeding season. I was fortunate to find a black-capped chickadee preparing a nesting cavity and on the same day a garter snake looking for an early meal.
